makuu™ was born from a real need: to create bedding that withstands high humidity, shifting temperatures, and a lack of household conditions — and still remains beautiful and pleasant to sleep in.
makuu™ exists because we believe that good sleep should be everywhere — on a boat, in a van, a capsule, or a beach cabin. Wherever people want to feel at home, even in motion. We spend one-third of our lives asleep. The quality of our sleep shapes our day, our journey, and ultimately, our life.
We chose a material that can handle the ocean. A fabric you can trust during an off-grid Atlantic crossing. It’s been tested by ocean air, humidity, bucket-washing in a salt water, and line-drying in the winds. This is not a concept — it’s already real.

We started with an ultra-niche audience: people living on boats, in mobile homes, and remote places. It’s not a mass market — it’s a community with very specific needs: humidity, limited space, and difficulty maintaining textiles.
