Hemp fabric care guide: How to wash, dry and store makuu™ hemp bedsheets.

The essentials of efficient hemp fabric care:

Experience the convenience:

Hemp is considered a very strong fiber. However, it is worth understanding that carefully made items (from any natural fiber) require increased attention and care. When it comes to caring for your hemp fabric bedding, simplicity is key. Here’s a quick guide to maintaining your hemp fabric items:

  1. Pre-soak: Hemp is wet-resistant but stiff fiber, which is why we recommend the new product to be wetted before washing, so that will prevent the spools on the fabric. Fill a small container with lukewarm water and submerge the hemp garment and let it soak for about 10 minutes.
  2. Quick machine or hand wash: Hemp fabric is easy to clean, and a quick wash with 40-60°C is usually sufficient to keep it fresh. Choose mild, eco-friendly detergent and do not use bleach or fabric softener. They can coat the fibers and reduce breathability. Use a short spin and pull the seams straight after washing.
  3. Air dry and iron when damp: Hang outside or in a well-ventilated area. If tumble drying, use a low heat setting and remove while slightly damp. The porous fibers will allow for quick evaporation, reducing drying time significantly.
  4. Ironing and storing: Iron on a low heat setting while still slightly damp. Store in a dry place, ensuring linens are completely dry.

Hemp gets only better with the use!

With hemp fabric bedding, you can enjoy the convenience of easy care and quick drying, making it the perfect choice for those leading a busy lifestyle, living nearby the sea in a humid climates or living in unconventional settings like a boat or a campervan. Say goodbye to daily laundry hassles and hello to fresh, breathable bedding that’s always ready when you are!

  1. Sun Exposure: Harness the power of the sun! If you’re living on a boat or don’t have access to a washing machine, simply place your hemp bedding in the sun to air out. Sun exposure not only helps eliminate odors but also naturally sanitizes the fabric.
  2. Softens with Washing: One of the unique qualities of hemp fabric is that it becomes softer with each wash. Unlike other fabrics that may become stiff over time, hemp fabric retains its softness and comfort, making it even more enjoyable to use with every wash.
  3. Minimal Ironing: Hemp fabric has a naturally relaxed look, so no ironing is required unless wanted. Embrace it’s natural wrinkles!
