Our Commitment
At Makuu, we are dedicated to promoting environmental sustainability in all aspects of our business. We recognize our responsibility to minimize our environmental impact and strive to use resources efficiently, reducing waste and extending the lifecycle of our products. We prioritize sourcing materials from environmentally responsible suppliers, aim to minimize energy consumption, and promote the use of renewable energy sources. Our goal is to reduce carbon emissions and achieve a high level of waste recycling. We raise customer awareness about the importance of sustainability and ensure that our products are sourced from suppliers with verified sustainable practices.

Actions
Hemp Products: We chose hemp as our primary product due to its environmental benefits. Hemp grows quickly, requires less water and pesticides, and improves soil health.
Local Manufacturing: We personally visit our fabrique manufacturers in Europe to ensure high standards. Our textile and sewing manufacturers are family businesses that adhere to ethical principles, use certified active dyes, and have GOTS certification.
Label Production: Our labels are produced by a small family business in Lithuania, supporting local communities and reducing our carbon footprint.
Sustainable Packaging: We use Paptic packaging, which has minimal environmental impact and is recyclable. Paptic combines the best properties of paper and plastic, being both durable and reusable.
Business Approach: We follow a work-life balance philosophy. We first create a happy and harmonious state for ourselves and then invest this positive mindset into our project. This means sustainability for us includes not only our products but also our business approach.
Handling Challenges: When we encounter obstacles or difficulties, we strive to handle them sustainably, following the philosophy of “recycling manure to benefit plants.”

Reporting and Accountability
We are committed to transparency and will report our progress annually. Our sustainability team is responsible for implementing this policy and ensuring that all employees are aware of and adhere to our environmental principles.
